Diane Merwarth, PT, CWS, received her BS in Physical Therapy from SUNY Buffalo in 1982, and was a physical therapist at Brackenridge Hospital in Austin, Texas (the Central Texas Trauma Center) from 1982 through 1994, including 2 years as Department Director. She then moved to Virginia and worked as a physical therapist at the University of Virginia Medical Center on the surgical services unit until 1996, at which time she returned to Austin, Texas. For the past 10 years she has been the coordinator for the wound care program at Brackenridge, and for the past 8 years have managed the multi-disciplinary wound management clinic. Diane has been a Certified Wound Specialist since 2001. She is a member of the Association for the Advancement of Wound Care (AAWC), the American Association for Wound Management (AAWM), the Wound Healing Society, TPTA, and APTA (including the SIG within the Electrophysiology Section). In addition to attending as many wound care conferences as she is able to, she has given presentations on wound care topics throughout the state.
